Critical-incident executive coachingFor responsible executives

Black Horizon Scenario.

One executive, alone, at a desk.

Twenty minutes, with a whole team.

No distractions.
Time to get a real feel for dealing with a crisis.

Compare that with the last mandatory table top?

Black Horizon is one such exercise

A support vessel with 412 people aboard is attacked offshore Qatar, and the chief executive answerable for her sits it alone, on his own laptop, with the office around him played by seven seats.
Type the orders.
They the Ai role-players answer from the company records / procedures.

A desk drawn in line engraving: a closed laptop, a desk telephone with its handset on the cradle, an open notebook and pen, and a cup of coffee.

Sit through the incident from the first report to the close out brief, this is the goal.

Watch the demo · 10 min The exercise on screen. A column of seat names on the left — chief commercial officer, chief financial officer, head of QHSSE and DPA — each against the answer it gave. Above them, in amber, the executive’s own last order: draft force majeure response to client. Along the foot a board reads: vessel, a DP3 support vessel bareboat chartered in with 412 aboard; location, offshore Qatar; status, 20 nautical mile military exclusion zone; money, client force majeure notice, hire still due. At the bottom an order box addressed to the legal and risk lead, with an order part typed.

Imagine
The very same scenario process built on your own companies, agreed data.

Black Horizon is ours.

The vessel is invented, the operator is invented, the contract is one we wrote. It does show you what an exercise can be.

It is not your incident, and we hope it never will be.

What is on offer is the same exercise built for your individual situation.

State-of-the-art AI processes now make it practical to take a company’s own material for example its vessels or its assets, its contracts, the positions in its crisis organisation, its own emergency procedures and turn that material into the written data rows an exercise runs from.

Your executives experience an incident involving their own vessel / asset.

With their own ai role players positions /team behind the answers.

How it is built

  1. 01The incident is written by someone who has held command in a real one.
The AI does not write it.
  2. 02Every fact a role-player is able to give is extracted first from your data
  3. 03The AI is the grease between that data and a realistic knowledgable person answering.
  4. 04Your people sit it.
Alone, on their own laptops, over and over, in peace, at their own pace.

Lets talk about such a scenario for your case →

The mechanism

“Delivered Through Experience” is the company’s tagline. It is also the mechanism.

The executive sits the exercise, makes choices, sees the results, and gets mentored.

Completes the same exercise, makes better choices over time.

Sees the results, gains more mentoring, as a result more mental muscle memory forms.

Confidence comes from Experience.
& from Confidence,
comes Competence.

Who it is for

Senior executives who will one day suddenly be put on the spot.

The executives who have to deal with stressful decisions right there, right then.

They are on the hook, in today’s litigious, complex, everything on record, world.

Their reputations, the company’s finances and reputation, are all on the line

Its during those vital initial stages, that we coach you through.

In the aftermath, they are the people who have to…

Live with the decisions they made.

Endure the scrutiny of —

  • Their Peers
  • Their investors
  • Their Insurers
  • The Public authorities
  • Prosecution, in the worst case.

What we propose

One person, alone, on their own laptop.

In their own comfort zone.

Zero pressure

The AI plays the office around them, the roles, the incoming events, and updates.

Lets make it personal

You are alone, and you really have time to think things through.

Time to make notes at your own pace.

Nothing is scored, until you are comfortable with the setup, and your performance.

For the first time we believe in crisis management training, you get the most valuable commodity in a crisis.

TIME!!

Play with it, become comfortable at your own pace.

You gain more insight, more mental muscle memory.

You will become more confident.

How an exercise runs

  1. 01 The phone goes; no preamble.
  2. 02 Something has happened That’s all it needs…
  3. 03 Seats, not people Every seat in the app is a role title, with no names and no photographs, no distractions.
  4. 04 Typed orders Orders are typed, so the exercise can be mentored. No microphones, no simulated phone calls
    We want the simplest interface.
    It’s the decisions that matter
    We are coaching, not gaming.
  5. 05 Over and over The same scenario is sat over and over, until you build that mental muscle memory. You learn from your mistakes. Errors are not impediments to our goals, but the raw material that allows for them. The scenario shape changes with your inputs, it realistically adapts to your inputs.
  6. 06 The AI The AI is the grease between the cogs of the machine.
This machine is not (for once) here to grind you up.
Its function is to grease the wheels of your mind. To improve your processing.
